Clifton Academy on Clifton Drive South in Lytham St. Anne’s was founded in 2007, when Michelle Cuffe transformed a nun’s home into a state of the art dance, drama and music school.
Following the closure of the St. Anne’s School of Music and with a background in amateur dramatics, Michelle was determined that local children and adults of all abilities should have the opportunity to learn to dance and participate in performing arts training in a fun, friendly, relaxed and stimulating environment, and gain qualifications if desired.
Clifton Academy was taken over by Peter Taylor and Daniel Cuffe in 2010 and is now run by Sarah Appleton and Amy Pemberton, who have taught dance classes at the academy since it opened and who both hold highly regarded teaching qualifications with ISTD (Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dance).
We are proud of our growing reputation as a leading performing arts centre and Clifton Academy is also affiliated to NODA (National Operatic & Dramatic Association).
We have achieved many accolades for our spectacular, full scale musical productions and in 2010 Clifton Academy won the prestigious NODA Best Youth Production and Best Overall Production awards for Billy Elliot, along with many other individual titles. Michelle Cuffe’s dream that Clifton Academy in St. Anne’s would spawn a new generation of dancers, actors and musicians is coming true!
Clifton Academy, Lytham St. Anne’s, boasts three purpose built, state of the art dance studios, drama group resources and four fully equipped music rooms.
Outstanding facilities, small class sizes, expert tuition and purposeful, energetic, well organised sessions see our pupils consistently achieve excellence in the performing arts.
We are proud to have maintained a 100% pass rate in dance exams since Clifton Academy opened and our children regularly win medals at dance competitions throughout the North West! We are thrilled to be celebrating the success of our students; in particular Thomas Atkinson, who is due to perform in the new West End musical Mathilda and Lucy Ella Smith, who having won Fylde’s Got Talent in 2011, has sung with Peter Andre and live with Boyzone at the Lytham Proms!
The opportunity to star in our spectacular, full scale, annual musical production at the world famous Blackpool Opera House excites and motivates Clifton Academy’s dance, drama and music pupils and the dazzling show case of talent mesmerises parents!
